Who likes counting calories?

I do not! And I know some of you must be saying, "you're so skinny, why are you counting calories?" Well my fellow readers, I count my calories to make sure I'm actually eating enough food each day. Everyone who's anyone knows that I'm a fatty, but lately I've been easily distracted and if I'm caught up in something else I will forget to eat. I started to notice slight changes in my body and I was definitely losing weight. So to get back on track, I started counting calories again!myplate_header I love Livestrong ! They have so many healthy eating tips for those who are to trying to lose or gain weight. They also have an amazing food tracking app called, MyPlate. If you haven't checked out my best friend, Laurice's blog laurice-imani.com then you need to head over there right now! She's blogging about her amazing weight loss journey and she's doing great so far. She likes to use another app called myfitnesspal, which is wonderful as well!I hope that everyone is trying to stay fit and healthy, not only for the summer, but making it a lifestyle! I am a very big advocate of taking care of your body in the best way that you can. So that doesn't mean you have to compare yourselves to other, that means just focus on YOU! If you're not a fan of running 5 miles a day, find something else that sparks your interest and stick with it. Whether you're trying to lose 20 pounds or gain a few, don't let others or the media get you down, progress is still progress and you'll reach your goal if you keep pushing! Xoxo, Kelsley Broomfield

Event Planning by day, Saving lives by night!

What can I say about the lovely Pearletta Tenny? Not only is she a beautiful young lady, one of whom I have the pleasure of calling friend, but she's also my google health doctor, personal walking Pinterest and a true inspiration! Wanna know more? I state this with confidence that the future Dr. Tenny will not only be saving lives, but one of the best event planners there is! Keep reading to see how she juggles these two different career choices and what she hopes for in the future.image2What  made you realize that you wanted to go into the field of nursing? I chose the field of nursing because I wanted to place myself in a position where I can serve people with all that I can as well as where I can experience the honor of helping them through some of  their most vulnerable experiences - life, death and everything in between.  What are the 3 things you love most about the field of nursing? The adrenalin rush, the ability to see progress, the honorable place to be there for people behind the masked faces we place in society. image3Now I know you also enjoy event planning as well, what inspired your passion that? My joy and excitement for the combination  interior decor + the logistics of an event! Who are your top 3-5 event planners? Mmmhmm that's hard! But I would say my top 3: David (Amazinng) Tutera, Mindy Weiss, Karen TranWhat is an event you would like to plan in the future? That's so hard! An event I'd love to plan in the future - perhaps some sort of gala where I can infuse the aesthetics of a luxe, elegant wedding! image4Nursing and event planning are pretty different. How do you plan to incorporate nursing and event planning? Very much so! So the standard scheduling of a full time RN is 3 days per ( about a 7 day week) which happens to be flexible,  therefore on my off days and days after work, I plan to execute the planning and execution segments. I have no problem staying up late to get the logistics together via web, phone calls, or whatever avenue that's necessary. It's definitely going to be an interesting juggle, but I know - God willingly, I can do absolutely all things through Christ with extended energy!  Xoxo

Lions, Turtles and Buffalo, Oh My!

Every once and awhile I'm reminded by a little person the importance of life itself and how it's the little things that we seem to forget are key. My cousin and her adorable son, Isaiah, which many of you have probably seen on my Instagram, invited me on their playdate to see the movie "Inside Out" and go to the County Zoo. Exploring the adventures of a child's mind and experiencing what adventures warm their heart was extraordinary.Inside Out, a movie that is based on the inside of a child's brain really captured my heart. It made me appreciate the joys, the pain, the love and the anger that we each experience in our lives. Shed a few tears, not gonna lie. The movie  was put together very nicely and was enjoyable for people of all ages, young and old. Now onto the zoo. This is my second time coming to this zoo with Isaiah and it's amazing how time flies. I remember holding his hand (he was about 2, now he's going on 5) and he asked me if I could touch what is one of the biggest things I'm afraid of, snakes! Thankfully this time we didn't run into any. Check out the pictures below.

"A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life..."

coco...And boy was Coco Chanel right! This change was much needed. I was ready to enter a new chapter of my life and shed all of the nonsense away. Cutting my hair was more than just a physical change, it was a spiritual change for me too! What I didn't expect to be such a big change was my style. Having a short cut is definitely making it a little more difficult for me to think of fun and creative outfits, but I'm sure I'll catch on. If I could transition from outfits for straight long hair to outfits for fiery, big hair then I'm confident that I'll be able to take on the challenge of enhancing my style to incorporate my new short cut! I've been trying to find outfit inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram's @thecutlife. I think it's going pretty well so far. Check out my outfit details below!
