Red Alert: Super Savings
/SALE SALE SALE SALE! Everyone loves a good sale! The summer has been a hot one and so have these deals!
Nordstrom is having their annual anniversary sale and they have some great prices. All anniversary merchandise is a fall preview and is marked down. If you have not stopped by, you better soon! The sale ends on Aug 3!
Gap! I have always been a fan of the Gap, but let’s be honest, as a college student I can’t afford it! Which is why I almost passed out when one of my customers told me that the Gap was having a great sale. Not only do they have their summer items marked down, but it is an additional 30-40% off of the marked sale price! You can’t beat that!
And Lastly, I could never give a sale update without my most prized possessions, shoes. Aldo my Loves! I had my eyes set on a pair of heels from Aldo and decided I was going to wait until I got paid to buy them! Well that took quite some time, but I’m grateful that I waited because thanks to their summer sale. I paid $39 for the $100 shoes that I bought! That’s more than 50% off!
Heat Challenge
/So for the past 5 months I’ve been heat free! And boy, it wasn’t easy, but the results were worth it. I’m going to give you the inside tips and tricks to staying away from heat.My Challenge:I am now two and half years natural and loving it! When I decided I was done with perms and relaxers, I wasn’t quite ready for the BC (Big Chop). I instead decided I was going to transition naturally. For the first 8 months my hair was always straight. I continued my weekly routines of blow-outs and straightening as if it was still relaxed. June 2013, I decided to try braid/twist outs and fell in love. Of course my attention span was not satisfied and I got into another routine of braid-outs one month, straight hair the next. This past December I decided to commit fully to being a naturalista as I was getting ready to embark on a new journey in Barcelona, Spain for the next 4 months. Now when I say no heat, I mean 0 heat, WHAT. SO. EVER. That means no blowing drying that damp twist out, no straightening my roots, nothing at all! I thought it would be simple at first, but I was in for a big surprise.I thank God, that I have fellow naturalistas to give me creative ideas, because if I didn’t, at that two-month mark, this heat challenge would have been over. Here are some of the tricks I used to survive:Air-dry braid out:
Let hair air-dry after shower a little to ensure that it will dry overnightCrown braid (perfect to protect those ends!)
Cornrow bun- funky protective style that lasts for quite some time
Side Swept Braid out- way to switch up from traditional braid out when you get bored!
Let me tell you, the struggle was REAL but it was worth the wait. My hair grew about 4 inches! And it feels healthier than it has ever been. This heat challenge isn’t just for naturalistas and curly-haired gals. It is something that everyone should try to get your hair to be healthier. Whether it is three weeks or half a year, start today and give your hair a heat- break!Be Patient!Xoxo
DIY: Shoe Shelf
/“Everyone has an addiction, mine happens to be shoes.†I have a problem that was growing into a bigger problem, and it all relates back to shoes! I may not have the biggest shoe collection, but I am a big fan of organization and the boxes were beginning to become overwhelming. Ten, twenty, forty shoes boxes stacked in my room? There had to be solution to this problem. So I did a little researching and found this crazy cute idea of a shoe shelf! Super easy, super cute and super practical for shoe lovers! I found everything I needed at home depot and it ended up being a lot cheaper than it would have been to buy a shoe bookcase (which was the original plan). If you are a shoe fanatic and are tired of the messy, cluttery (not a real word), shoe situation that is lurking in your room or closet, check out my super cool DIY Shoe shelf and other cute shoe storage ideas I found!

Creative Closet
/Now if you read my previous post you now know that I was living in another country for 4 months. It was the most life-changing experience I’ve ever had, but the hardest hit to my wardrobe department. I left the country with an overweight bag and came back with an extra one and still overweight. So it is safe to say that I tried. It is not my fault that my definition of packing “light†did not meet the international baggage requirements. I went through two seasons people, I needed to make sure I was prepared. And as prepared as I thought I was, I still found myself saying, “ I cannot believe I left that at home!†Or “I have no clothes!†My ultimate favorite is “Yep, time to go shopping again.†Talk about tapping into your creative instincts, I had to replicate two and half weeks worth of clothing for 4 months! By far my greatest fashion challenge yet. But with every challenge there is something to be learned. Creative Closet was designed to show you how to stretch your wardrobe and save your money. Instead of going out to buy something new, look into your closet and see what you have. Learn to change things up, wear them differently and watch your closet go from ordinary to endless possibilities of fashion opportunities. Day and Night!
Be Creative,
Xoxo
